PDA Application development is a new and exciting area.  PDA’s (Palm Devices or Pocket PC’s) can be used to develop mobile applications for your company.  These applications can include add-on devices such as scanners which make for low cost scanning applications.  A Palm PDA with a scanner and a custom program can scan your inventory and upload the information to your network to verify inventory balances.  A salesman can take inventory at his customers to compare it to a Model Order and create a customer order on-site, and even print it on an IR based printer.  The Pocket PC’s have more networking capabilities so they can be used as a low cost hand held scanning solution using Wireless Networks.  Custom applications can also be developed on the PDA, complimented by a PC Application to create a complete solution.  In some cases a PC Application (for data collection and reporting), with a Pocket PC (for Scanning), and a Dymo Label Printer (to print Bar Code Labels) can be a complete bar code solution for your inventory.  This could also be used as a tracking mechanism for any document and / or product moving through your organization.
